FULL BEAM: Tales from a Scunthorpe Body Shop

Updated: Jul 27

A quick welcome from Scunthorpe, introducing our blog.

Why This Small, Local Body Shop Is Starting a Blog — And What You’ll Get From It - Stories, scrapes and straight answers from the team that’s seen it all.

“Is it bad?”“Depends… did the gatepost fall over or just your pride?”“I wasn’t even moving. I was reaching for my Costa.”“Then no. We’ve seen worse. Welcome to Monday.”

If you’ve ever had a conversation like this — probably mid-car park, one hand on your keys and the other rubbing a suspicious mark — then Full Beam is for you.

🕐 In a rush?

Skip to the Quick Summary & FAQs ↓ — we’ve made it easy to find what matters.

Why We’re Doing This

After years of sorting out scuffs, respraying panels, calming lease panic, and translating insurance speak into something humans can understand, we realised something:

"It’s not just the repair people want help with. It’s the whole what now? moment.

And let’s be honest — for something most of us rely on every single day, cars still manage to confuse, cost, and catch us out far more than they should.

So we’re flipping on the full beam."

Real Stories. Honest Advice. Straight from Your Friendly, Local Scunthorpe Body Shop

This blog is a fresh start. A place to share what we’ve learned the long way. Not just about SMART repairs or lease returns (though yes, we’ll talk about those), but about how this industry works, what’s actually worth worrying about, and how to avoid the classic mistakes people make when they’re in a rush, rattled, or trying to fix things fast.

What You’ll Find Here

  • Behind-the-scenes insights from the body shop floor (yes, the paint does come in 400 shades of silver)

  • Real-world guidance that clears up common confusion (like “do I have to fix this before I hand it back?”)

  • Stories that stick, from the hilarious to the heartfelt (we’ve seen a lot… and yes, we’ll change names to protect the clumsy)

  • Straight talk on repairs — when to sort it, when to leave it, and how not to get stitched up in the process

  • Observations on life, driving, and the Highway Code — including the rules everyone thinks they know but definitely don’t (looking at you, roundabout warriors)

It’s About Time

We’re not launching Full Beam to show off our work. The work speaks for itself. We’re doing this because too many people still feel unsure, overwhelmed, or slightly embarrassed when they need help with their car — and they deserve better. This small, local Scunthorpe Body Shop has seen it all over the years. Some funny, some sad, some downright unbelievable. We want to share it all with you.

Also, whether you’re helping your dad get a dent sorted, wondering if that bumper scuff will fail the lease inspection, or trying to decide whether to claim on insurance or pay out of pocket — this blog is here to make all of it (the body shop accident/insurance bit) make sense.

Honest Help, No Nonsense

We’re not going to lecture. You won’t need a glossary. And you’ll never hear us say “leave it with us” unless we actually mean it.

Just real stories, proper advice, and a bit of humanity from the people who’ve seen every kind of dent — including the emotional kind that happens when you realise the 'crunch' came from your own wing mirror.
